The Pareto Principle actually applies to computer graphics. A part of rendering, raytracing, is tied to the principle because 80 percent of rays intersect with 20 percent of geometry. Although the Pareto principle is usually used to train leaders, I have found that 80 percent of my words make up the top 20 percent of my dorkiness.
I heard the song "Hallelujah" in a season finale episode of the West Wing a day or so ago, and it reminded me how powerful a song can be. This version sounded different from the version I originally heard in the Shrek soundtrack, and had thought to be the original. Rufus Wainwright, in fact, did not create the song. It's originally a Leonard Cohen song, and Wainwright's cover was based off another cover by Jeff Buckley--which was the version I heard on West Wing. The song has been covered by more than 200 artists. I love the song. It's about the moments where every breath you draw is a hallelujah. It's about every moment that is a whirlwind, a rapture, a paralyzing overflow of emotion. As a person who feels things very deeply, I can connect wholeheartedly.
